After a successful trial in 2011 for members of my Club - Olicana bridge Club in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, 2012 sees the start of Bridge & Culture in Italy holidays for a wider clientele.  You will stay in the beautiful, recently restored Palazzo that was once the summer residence of a noble, land-owning Spoleto family.
The Palazzo has wonderful views down the Valnerina, the stunningly beautiful, unspoilt valley of the river Nera - this forms the backdrop to the infinity pool so that even if you don't choose to swim you can still sit and enjoy the view.
Each day there will be bridge and also a visit.  There is much to see in the area and destinations will probably include Assisi (Basilica of St. Francis), Montefalco, Norcia, Castelluccio, Spoleto and the Cascata delle Marmore (Marble waterfalls).  Food will be a mixture of eating in good local restaurants or eating in with traditional Umbrian meals cooked by the local farmer's wife, Andreina.
Bridge will be a mixture of play and tutorials, Mike is a County level Tournament Director and has taught bridge to beginners and improvers for the past 10 years. The lessons will be interesting and appropriate.  At least one day we will visit a local bridge club to play there.

The price includes : transport to and from Rome Fiumicino airport; accommodation in double or twin rooms with bath or shower room; breakfasts and dinners (including wine); bridge (a small charge will be made if we visit a local bridge club - but there will be proze money!)

Non-bridge-playing partners are welcome too - they can make even more use of the pool while bridge sessions are taking place or enjoy local works .

The holidays will be June 2nd to 9th 2012 (for beginners and less experienced players) and 9th to 16th (for improvers or better). 

Cost : £575 (£525 if sharing a room) will cover accommodation, food (half board - lunches will normally be taken during an excursion) and transport from and to the airport and on excursions. On top of this you will need to book your flight to Rome - preferably to Fiumicino Airport so that everyone arrives at the same place!
